The Executive Council of the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth today adopted and endorsed – with only one dissenting vote – the recommendation of the Bishop and Standing Committee “that this Diocese affiliate with the Anglican Province of the Southern Cone as a member diocese, on a temporary, pastoral basis, until such time as an orthodox Province of the Anglican Communion can be established in North America.”
Katie Sherrod has the story.

Goodday, mate! Don't let the door hit you on your way out. By the way turn your pockets inside out before you clear the door.
I don't mean to be snippy to the wonderful and true TEC folks there, but ditto what Fred said.
See ya. And no guff about lawsuits. Give up the property and go in peace.

Alice in the looking glass time?
This is sort of a technical question... I am curious why they chose the Southern Cone thing instead of CANA, Rwanda, or one of the many other groups. Maybe the Iker type Texans are squeamish about people with dark skin? It seems like the Southern Cone is just as low-church as the Nigerians (with Iker and many in his diocese being more Anglo-Catholic). Those remaining in TEC in San Joaquin were sort of liberated by the departure of Mr. Schofield the Glutton and his minions. I feel that the people desiring to remain in TEC in Ft. Worth will be liberated from Iker and his gargoyles. Let the property lawsuits begin!

O Happy Chance, there already IS such a body---it's called The Episcopal Church! >;-/
Mapko,
What's even weirder is that the Southern Cone, and CANA & the AMiA (Rwanda) for that matter, is pretty "low church," while +Iker & crew are self-styled "Anglo-Catholics."
Which, to me, is simply another indication of their lack of theological depth or strength of any conviction outside of "teh gayz, libruhls, and uppity wimmin are BAD."
Yes, David, that makes NO sense to me. Truly a marraige of convenience and likely to lead to uncertain bedfellows...
