Do you suffer internet fatigue?

There's a new Pew study that finds Internet fatigue is setting in.

The report, written by John Horrigan, the project's associate director of research, says 7 percent of Americans use the Internet as their primary means of social communication and also feel conflicted about that fact. These online social network users, which Horrigan calls "ambivalent networkers," are so connected they feel like they can't quit."

"Junk" Genes Fight HIV ?

It's a bit of a departure for this blog, but a fascinating bit of news has surfaced recently:

"Junk DNA" are inactive parts of your genome, switched off long ago in evolutionary history. Now scientists say there's a junk gene that fights HIV. And they've discovered how to turn it back on. [via io9.com]

Your intrepid blogger is at this very moment sitting in a Southwest Airlines 737, climbing towards 30,000 feet, en route from San Jose to Southern California. Southwest has four jets equipped for wireless which they are testing and access for now is free.
