The setting sun

Last Thanksgiving, BP and I joined Mom and Dad at Bodega Bay, along the northern coast of California, for a tranquil holiday get away. I took this photo at sunset. It was beautiful, and peaceful, and I treasure those days as a lovely memory of my Dad. It was the last time I saw him. This weekend we will inter his ashes, and I'll be slowly getting back to regular blogging. Thanks again for your love and support.

IT, my thoughts and prayers are with you too. I hope you are okay, as much as you can be under these sad circumstances.

You and your family are in my prayers.

...and I love Bodega Bay --except, true northern Californians consider Bodega to be in southern California... or at least the gateway to it! :)

Well, it's almost due West for me in Sacramento (if you tried to called Sacra-tomato "southern California" Margaret---them's fightin' words! :-0)

I had my "mini-honeymoon" at Bodega, way back when...

It's north of SF, therefore it's northern.

Southern California doesn't begin till Santa Barbara.

Of course right now I sit about 20 miles from Mexico, so there.

Like Margaret, I am deeply, historically, culturally, northern Californian, generations back, and sneer at this easy south with its gentle beaches. On the other hand, I'm not arguing with the 75°F temps we're having down here in America's Finest City.

But I'm still a northern californian at heart, with a love of the smell of eucalyptus and bay. Is it my fault no one up there will hire me?

I always wanna let SoCal have the San Joaquin Valley (though not the Sierra due East of it!), but my dad, Fresno Boy, won't hear of that. ;-)

It's all relative. I suspect people in Weed consider everything south of Dunsmuir to be southern California. Perhaps one could use the coast redwood to distinguish between northern and southern California.

I love West/Hollywood and B.H. (even though I grew up in the South Bay/L.A.) but went to college in San Francisco Bay area--I can easily say I LOVE ALL OF CALIFORNIA but after living in both Los Angeles and San Francisco for ¨little lifetimes¨ I know that one can easily get a cultural whip-lash when commuting between the two--different Worlds, both marvelous but San Diego never did much for the glee in me--however, it is close to the border and I get real perky crossing over into Mexico as I have since mid-teens--ole´.

Such a beautiful photo, thanks IT for sharing one of the many wonders of the beautiful World we live in--blessings of peace of mind to you, BP and all of yours as you say words of love to/for your Dad...what a guy he must have been.
