News reports are of numerous people trapped and severe damage in the earthquake on the South Island of New Zealand. If you want to use this as an open thread, please do.
Many more churches than the historic/iconic ones being shown on the news are damaged (though not as irreparably as ones being shown), and this will be devastating to those faith communities which thought they had survived the original earthquake (relatively) unscathed.
Life is going to be stressful on all sorts of levels, one of which is that our sewerage system is wrecked and it could be weeks if not a month before we should be flushing toilets again. (Yes, we have dug an outdoor toilet in our garden ...).
Meantime a great community of people are engaged in rescues, recoveries, and general welfare of needy people.

The N.Y. Times has an aerial photo of the Anglican Cathedral after the quake here.
Thanks for thinking of us and praying for us.

Thanks again for praying.
Prayers ascending!
Prayers for you, Fr Peter, and your flock.
I have another online friend in Christchurch, rejoicing in an up&running wifi at McDonald's, and the lifeline which is the smartphone.
I hope you won't mind, Fr Peter, saying that I find myself feeling even MORE sympathy (than I was feeling 3 days ago) for Haiti.
Comfort to all the suffering!
