Call for Maine

Protect Marriage equality.
It's a dead heat in Maine: 48%-48% according to the latest polling.

The Public Policy Polling survey of likely voters released yesterday shows that Question 1 -- the initiative in Maine that would deny same-sex couples the right to marry -- is picking up momentum and could pass on November 3.

This election is going to come down to turnout. And the NO on 1 campaign is counting on out-of-state volunteers like you to make sure voters make it to the polls during this off-year election.

You can make the difference between securing equality for Mainers or another crushing defeat like Prop 8. If you have a phone and an internet connection, we need your help. Please sign up now for a CALL FOR EQUALITY shift to make calls to Maine voters from home:

Somehow I don't get through with my Visa card to the Courage campaign. I have tried several times. And I would like to contribute because I believe what happens in the USA is important for Sweden and the world.

Göran, generally foreign nationals are not allowed to contribute $$$ directly to US political campaigns (several of my staff wanted to contribute against Prop8 but were unable to do so because they are not US citizens). However, generally advocacy groups that not participating directly on a given campaign ARE able to take donations. You might email the courage campaign and see if this is the reason. If so, they can probably suggest other organizations that have a less direct role that could still benefit from your kindness.

I know I'm not supposed to meddle in politics, but surely, this isn't political?

Göran, if it directly impacts an election campaign like Question 1, yes it is. But general donations to a group that are not specific to political advocacy are allowed from all.
