Bishop Gene blogging

Bishop Gene Robinson has re-opened his blog for the duration. Some concern:
We also had a disturbing private (no one in the gallery) conversation in the House of Bishops that led me to feel discouraged about what lies ahead. That conversation is private, so I can't detail it, but there seems to be a kind of belligerent attitude toward the House of Deputies by some of our bishops. Their vision of the episcopate is way too "high and mighty" for my taste, or my theology, and I am not happy about it. The last thing we bishops need is a larger measure of arrogance. Didn't Jesus save his most serious criticism for the religious powers-that-be of his day who lorded their power and position over others?

Isn't the problem always the nobility? It's interesting that in a church founded with enlightenment principles of Democracy in the
18th century, that the elites are struggling to regain their authority. "Because we said so."

Power is addictive, isn't it? And if those in other countries are called "My Lord", it is seductive as well.

You lot shall have to read my comment at MP's because IT has told me wot this is a family blog -- so she would censor me here or beat me up!

I'm shocked, shocked.

"Sire, the peasants are revolting!" "They totally ARE!"

I had a feeling this was all going too well, so far (said JCF's Inner Cynic). Wiser voices than mine told me "the HofB won't repeal B-033, no matter what the HofD wants".

Merciful Lord, I hope I'm wrong...

Not as revolting as some of the bishops!
