Me Me Me

Episcopal Cafe notes this conjunction of announcements:
Abp Deng of Sudan disses TEC and Gene
CCP announces new province in US
The Network announces new province in US
Video of laity proclaiming how good it will be to be free of TEC, appears on Pittsburgh (now PitAng) web site.
Duncan leaves Lambeth Conference.

All when the news should be focused on the genocide in Sudan and the MDGs.

Hmmmm....

Makes me dizy with gladness that I'm not part of this dirty-trick, thieving, fear/hate-promoting new province enterprise...they gotta try and storm the fortress/kingdom because the blowhards are falling apart with this latest new/grandstanding Kamakazi Mission!

The problem as I see it is, they really think they are doing the righteous thing. THe Jewish leaders who arranged Jesus' death had the same mind set.

They are behaving like very spoilt and bratty children. It's not their party, and it's not supposed to be about them.

Where's a stern parent when you need one?

The Romans crucified Jesus, not the Jews.

The headline pretty much nailed it.
It seems to be all "me me me".
I understand Venebales and others have refused to take communion from Rowan. How very very sad, and childish.

Loud echoes of the Chapman letter process coming to fulfillment. How many depositions? How many lawsuits? Makes me so weary just to begin imagining it.

And then there is our "hero" of the day, Bishop Leo Frade of Southeast Florida who wrapped his sign in a rainbow flag today at the MDG March
Read it here.

About 2+ minutes into the BBC video here

On a related note: Stephen Colbert just had NYT religion reporter Laurie Goodstein on his show, to talk about Lambeth (unsurprisingly, she showed considerably more understanding of the AC than a guest Colbert had on a few weeks ago: one +N.T. Wright >:-/)

***

The latest strategy of the FOCAs, is to dump on TEC bishops for supposedly having a "strategy"! :-0

Lord have mercy...

What "strategy" is that? Is there an article somewhere about this diversionary claim of FOCA?

this was obviously scheduled in advance. remember that this crowd has plenty of Republican political operatives in their CANA pews in Virginia. They had events scheduled in advance of every day of Lambeth.

There will be something tomorrow and the next day and the next. Then there will be something big show the day before the end. Either they will walk out or they will try to force a vote on 1.10 again. Or something. But there is some stunt scheduled for everyday of Lambeth.

They are smart.

We should have had some crowd who made the same plans.

"Me, me, me" is right.

For example, have you ever really listened to that odious contemporary "Praise Music" so many of the neo-cons seem to favor ? It's all "me, me, me and my extra special, BFF Gee-zus."

I spent over a year at the (in)famous Christ Church Plano just before GC2003 and got an enormous earful of this tripe. And the theology in it would turn the strongest stomach of any mainline Episcopalian (to say nothing of the contents of David Roseberry's sermons ;)

So yeah, for anyone who's read the AAC/ACN missives, listened to their music, or had to sit through their sermons, this sort of thing is no surprise at all...

Funny you should ask, Scott.

I was reading Episcopal Cafe/The Lead, and was disturbed by an incredibly PATRONIZING post, by a "Jody Richards". I followed the links, and discovered he's a little piss-ant of a baby priest, only in his 20s! [whom, of course, knows better than the vast "revisionist" democratic-majority of Episcopalians---or TEC's bishops---doncha know]

Anyway, his blog had a posting about this {shudder} "strategy": http://adamantius.net/?p=962

About this Fr. Jody: as I said on Episcopal Cafe (I hope it'll be posted) "What a pity when youth is wasted on the young". ;-X

jcf,

Thanks for the link. I followed it on to its source and found...surprise surprise...the ACI again. I have been acquainted with these guys in times past and know them to be tender hearts. But they want more clarity than life and faith can provide. Reconciliation is an eternal process. They want it right now. Sorry, fellas. I don't think the world needs another domination system, and I wish they'd let a little of their "stuff" go.

JCF - I used to hate those sorts of comments when I was young (if I can still recall those days - long gone LOL). He may be patronizing but don't blame it on his youth ---

JCF,

It's been too long ago to know whether any comments at the Episcopal Cafe could fairly be labeled "patronizing" or not--I try to be pretty direct and call things they way I see them--sorry if you disagree. However, if you're going to insult me by calling me a "piss-ant of a baby priest" and then link to my blog, you could at least get my name right. It's Jody Howard, not Richards--if "Jody Richards" left patronizing comments, I have no idea who that is.

Next time, why not drop me an email or comment on my site rather than spreading insults across the web?
