Words harm and to an unbalanced mind, they apparently motivate, as well.

And when the voices in our own communion spew hatred for any group of people, it just adds to the edge of everyone IN that hatred.

It is a terrible, tragic but inevitable consequence. I don't know what it will take for our Communion to understand the relationship between hateful words and violence.

I found Anderson's comment last week that Sudanese Bishop Bul's words were "loving" not only incomprehensible but extremely hurtful, as well. Loving?

This whole mess is just heartbreaking for me to watch. It is a dynamic that is so terribly human, and so tragically removed from God.

I have found myself so depressed over the last 72 hours that I have been watching comedies trying to snap out of it.

So far, it isn't working.

canyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8238382886103256219.post-63334973210929789232008-07-28T10:12:00.000-07:002008-07-28T10:12:00.000-07:00Off-topic: Ever since I heard WHAT church was shot...Off-topic:

Ever since I heard WHAT church was shot up yesterday (and secondarily, WHERE), I was sort of waiting for this shoe to drop... and it did:

Letter Proves Gay-Inclusion Motivated Church Shooting

Jim D. Adkisson wanted to fight a gay-inclusive church’s “liberal movement” when he shot-up Sunday services this weekend, said police. Fifty-eight year old Adkisson allegedly killed two and injured seven at about 10:18 on yesterday morning and a letter found in his car later specified his murderous “reasoning:”

"The shotgun-wielding suspect in Sunday’s mass shooting at the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church was motivated by a hatred of “the liberal movement,” and he planned to shoot until police shot him, Knoxville Police Chief Sterling P. That's like having cancer, and blaming oncologists! :-0), still, it's a predictable kind of crazy that our homophobic society produces (i.e., serving the "Principalities & Powers").

While I may Christological differences w/ the UUs, I have little doubt they were killed for practicing The Gospel (kinda wish Grace were here to argue w/ me ;-/)

Lord, grant rest eternal to your saints!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8238382886103256219.post-64087556000037528272008-07-28T09:23:00.000-07:002008-07-28T09:23:00.000-07:00And this from the Windsor Continuation Group - a g...And this from the Windsor Continuation Group - a group of anti-gay appointees of the ABC hereAnnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07287169546184325690noreply@blogger.com
