Being magnanimous in victory

Andrew Sullivan:

I think the main issue now will be protection of religious liberty. Many of us have no problem allowing religious institutions to run their own organizations as they see fit, as long as they are sincere and in good faith. I don’t think they have anything to fear. What we need to express at this point is magnanimity. We’ve got to let people who genuinely find [same-sex marriage] disconcerting the space and time to deal with it. That’s what I would caution and urge.

I think the "main issue" is ensuring we don't get married Saturday or Sunday, then fired on Monday. We need to pass a nation-wide (Trans-inclusive) STRONG (i.e., "Hobby Lobby"-proof) ENDA.

"Many of us have no problem allowing religious institutions to run their own organizations as they see fit"

Yes---as long as they don't receive tax dollars. If they do, however, Pay-Piper-Call-Tune. [And, needless to say, "religious institutions" are mutually-exclusive of for-profit corporations. Again, contra "Hobby Lobby", which is up there w/ "Citizens United"---and "Bush v Gore"!---in the history of execrable SCOTUS decisions. As happy as I am w/ SCOTUS (that is to say, the Libs + Kennedy) at the moment.]
